On 14 January a meeting of the International X-35  Federation was held at the Danish Sailing Federation  in the City of Copenhagen. Those attending included Gerard Esteva, Chairman of the Catalan Sailing Federation  and Miquel Colomer, member of the Badalona X-35 world championship organising committee as National X-35 Secretary. During the meeting the various international X-35 representatives were informed of the programme for the forthcoming World Championship  to be held in August 2012 in the waters off Badalona.  Different countries such as Denmark, Holland, Germany, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Russia and Italy have already confirmed the presence of their boats in the Mediterranean this summer to take part in the King's Cup  at Palma de Mallorca in July and then the X-35 Class World Championship in Badalona. The same meeting approved the appointment of Miquel Colomer as the new Chairman of the International X-35 Association for 2012, as national class secretary in the host territory.

Torsten Bastiansen, representative of the Danish X-Yachts boatyards, visits the Badalona port facilities where the world championships will be held amb meets representatives of the organising committee. After approving the area -particularly the fact that all the boats are concentrated in the same basin and the proximity of all the services needed for running the competition- Torsten confirms the commitment of the Danish firm and its representatives in Spain to promoting the event and ensuring its success.

The international X-35 class meeting held in Nice, dealing with the calendar for forthcoming international events, among other points, opts fot the candidature of Badalona for organising the class world championship in summer 2012, on dates to be specified between August and September. The national X-35 representatives, with members from Holland, Norway, Italy, Finland, Japan, Sweden, Germany, and the representative of the X-Yachts boatyards (creators of the boat) opted for Badalona's proposal ahead of competition from Monaco. The candidature, backed by the Catalan Sailing Federation, was advocated by Miquel Colomer, class secretary and member of the board of the Catalan Sailing Federation. Its winning features include questions of competence and its central location, its internacional connections and the suitability of this facilities for hosting and providing technical assistance tor this type of boat.
